I have been considering going for a microdermabrasion session at the salon ($200). But I’m wondering if there is anyone out there who has tried both home kits and salon visits, and found them to be the same? Can you achieve visible results with home kits? If so – which brand is the best, and almost as effective as a repeated professional session?
Yes, some of the at home microderma kits do have good results, but remember that none if these kits can ever be as effective as the real professional procedure. I have been doing professionam microderma for 2 years now and I am pleased with the results. I also use home kits, but only for maintenance. Best results come with the professional procedure. I know its a bit expensive… It can reach up to 2000 a year if you decide to have a full 10-12 series (and you should if you want best results). The most effective kits come from Dermanew, Neutrogena and Susan Lucci. These kits contain a special device that helps resurface the skin better then your fingers can… The micro crystal cream is also efficient. Hope this helps.

2009 Oct 04 2I use Borghese’s "Pelle Rinnovo." While at an Estee Lauder Make up Artist event, some of the Estee Lauder ladies told me that the best at home mircodermabrasion was the Pello Rinnovo, they compared to going to a spa without having to pay an arm and leg. It has Magnesium Oxide Crystals in it, which I guess is what spa’s use. It’s only $47.50, and you only need about a pea sized portion for each use. The first time I used it, I could see a difference in the way my skin glowed. I would see if you have a borghese counter near you (we have one in Dillards) and possibly get a sample first, that is what I did!

2009 Oct 04 3Origins makes a mircodermabrasion alternative face product that you apply kind of like an exfoliator-they have information about studies they have done where they tested 54 women who reguarly went for microdermabrasion treatments and 94% of them said they preferred this product. It is called Modern Friction and runs about $36 for a tub that will last you forever (they also have a kit that has it in there with a few other products that are great for like $40) They also carry a fomulation to be used on the body and a product called Modern Fusion that strengthens the results.
